It comes from artist Marion Costentin's own experience of transformation, and the creativity, meaning and purpose that grew out of it. The Elder Futhark has been read in stone, bone, and carved wood for centuries. James R. Eads ran into the same wall every beginner does: a symbol on its own tells you nothing. You memorise, rune by rune, without ever really feeling what it means.

So he did what almost no rune deck attempts: he painted them. Each card pairs the original glyph with its traditional name and an image that embodies its meaning.
