A Language Older Than Writing, Made Legible
The Elder Futhark has been read in stone, bone, and carved wood for centuries. James R. Eads ran into the same wall every beginner does: a symbol on its own tells you nothing. You memorise, rune by rune, without ever really feeling what it means.
So he did what almost no rune deck attempts: he painted them. Each card pairs the original glyph with its traditional name and an image that embodies its meaning. A rune stops being an abstract mark to recall from memory and becomes a scene, a mood, something the eye understands before the mind catches up.
A Colour Language That Speaks Before the Words Do
Reds and oranges signal hardship. Yellows and golds carry fortune and forward motion. Greens and blues hold the neutral ground. This colour system, unique to the Green Glyphs collection, turns a confusing spread into an instant read. No set of carved stones has ever offered that.
And because runes are best understood in families, the guidebook walks through the three Aett (the clans of eight ruled by Frey, Hagal, and Tyr), giving the practice real depth well beyond single-card meanings.
Two Ways to Consult, One Box
Alongside the 33 cards come four runic dice, castable on their own or paired with a card draw for a more physical, instinctive reading. Few decks offer both methods. This one includes them as standard.
Built to Be Kept, Not Just Used
Gold gilded edges, a custom orange box, a proper bound guidebook: Green Glyphs Runes is as much a working tool for the dedicated practitioner as it is a piece worth displaying on the altar or the shelf.
This is the Futhark as it should be learned: visible, felt, and finally within reach.
